Here are some momblings on your big day:
I hope that you have always known how loved you are. That is something that will never change, no matter how old you are. I’ve loved you as a baby, a toddler, a child, teen, and now as you are becoming an adult. Watching you grow up, and growing with you, has been the best part of my life. I wish for you to be able to see yourself as I see you.
Continue to be you, fabulously you, uniquely qualified to be yourself, learn, grow and share your light with the world.
Make mistakes, and learn from them. Bounce back, stronger. Do your best, but embrace good enough, because perfection is unattainable and seeking it is soul sucking. Accept yourself, but always want more from yourself. Celebrate your successes, and keep failure in perspective.
Ask for help. Everybody needs help. People like to help. It is truly a survival skill, asking for and accepting help from people. And don’t let people treat you like crap. Nobody deserves that. Speak up for yourself. Loudly! It gets easier with practice.
Keep your eyes on the big picture. You may not be where you want to be right now, but there is plenty of time for you to get there. Enjoy today, and remember that tomorrow will come and it will be a brand new day. I want to go to there!
I will raise my glass to you, and celebrate these 19 years of your life. Cheers love!
